GCAA · Hurricane Helene Rental Assistance Fund $250K Assistance Fund · Distributed to Approved Housing Providers
The Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA) has established a rental assistance fund to aid its members in providing housing for families affected by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina.
The $250,000 fund will offer direct payments to rental housing owners who provide short or long-term housing to families relocating from specific storm-ravaged counties in Western NC.
Shelby Hughes started her journey with the apartment industry in 2008. Before joining the GCAA, Shelby worked in New Home Sales in the Washington, D.C. area before transitioning to property management. Shelby began her time in property management in leasing before eventually ascending to the role of property manager. Over the course of thirteen years in the multi-family industry Shelby has worked across both the D.C. and Charlotte markets, most recently managing lease up to stabilized properties in Huntersville and Montford markets. Dedicated to the training of her peers, she has been committed to advocating for the industry and providing resources to those furthering their careers.
A Northern VA native, Shelby holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
