The White House is providing a way to help build affordable housing. The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) offers $100M in grant funding to help build affordable housing. The goal is to remove barriers to development and provide the necessary housing for communities nationwide. PRO Housing strives to fix poor infrastructure and neighborhood facilities, ineffective building protocols, and hurdles to obsolete zoning policies. Grantees may use the funds to create and update affordable housing developments, policy plans, and strategies. The grant application deadline is October 15. Click here to apply.

The City of Charlotte applied to fund the Dedicated Development Center Team, which aims to provide regulatory assistance for affordable projects. The goal is to build more housing, specifically the “missing middle, " including duplexes and triplexes. Another proposed activity is a cost of regulation study, which would clarify barriers to development. City workers are encouraging the public to provide input.

Registration is now available for in-person and virtual public workshops starting in October.
