NC Valet Trash Regulation Update – Deadline for valet trash container requirements has been extended

On December 8, 2020, the North Carolina Building Code Council approved an Emergency Rule that will delay the current January 1,2021 valet trash container requirements. Valet Trash Vendors have been granted a six-month extension due to availability limitations and manufacturing delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Under the 2018 NC Fire Code, Section 304.4.2.3 the new effective date will be July 1, 2021. Following the July 1 deadline, all valet trash containers must meet the specified requirements in the 2018 Fire Code Section 304.4.
