Emergency Declarations – South Carolina
A House Judiciary subcommittee met last week on H. 3443, to limit the Governor's ability to issue successive emergency declarations. Governor McMaster has issued these successive declarations for the COVID-19 pandemic since March of 2020. The intent of the bill is to give the power to the General Assembly to provide a continuation or amendments to an emergency declaration issued by the Governor. The bill will be discussed in the full House Judiciary Committee next week. We will continue to keep you updated on this proposed legislation.
