Multifamily And Mecklenburg Government: The Upcoming Elections
Election season is upon us - twenty-plus candidates are throwing their hats in the ring to serve on the Mecklenburg County City Council, and the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association is eager to hear from them all. The council (comprised of the mayor, 11 council members, four at-large council members, and seven district representatives) serves a two-year term; their influence on multi-family housing policies for Charlotte is enormous. It’s imperative that we endorse leaders who uphold our industry.
This election season, GCAA's RHA PAC will endorse and financially support influential candidates who continue to strengthen the multi-family housing industry. Our association is comprised of 993 apartment communities, 275 suppliers, and 207 owner and management companies that rely on our legislative efforts to support like-minded candidates. The GCAA, and its Director of Government Affairs, Lindsay Reusser, will spearhead a Candidate Mingle on Wednesday, September 6, for GCAA Members and Mecklenburg County city council candidates to discuss their views on rent control, housing affordability, and other industry topics.
