CLT Voters Approve Bonds & More Election Results
Charlotte voters approved a $400M bond referendum, the largest ever put forward by the City Council. The referendum, which included $238.3M for transportation projects, $61.7M for neighborhood initiatives, and $100M for housing efforts, passed with an overwhelming 67% support.
While the transportation and neighborhood investments have many nuanced benefits for multifamily development, the more significant aspect of the bond is the $100M slated for affordable housing construction - primarily rental, downpayment assistance, and a new City of Charlotte pilot to support accessory dwelling unit production.
Greater Charlotte Apartment Association was part of a broad coalition that pushed the bond referendum over the finish line. We were joined by colleagues with Charlotte Regional Business Alliance, REBIC, Habitat for Humanity, Canopy Realtors Association and others in this successful effort.
