Be Prepared for UDO Amendments

Charlotte City Council’s Transportation, Planning, and Development Committee discussed the update of the United Development Ordinance (UDO) text amendments. During the committee meeting, planning staff discussed flexibility for hotel conversions, revising accessory dwelling unit standards, and increasing affordable housing tools to streamline affordable projects. They also discussed market trends and how multifamily permits continue to outpace single-family permits. Informal public workshops have begun to identify future projects and gain feedback.
