Gov. Cooper Signs House Bill 1105

Industry News,

Last week we informed you that the General Assembly approved a $1B federal virus relief package that would provide pandemic relief money to the jobless, parents of public-school students, poll workers, public health agencies and others. That bill was signed by Gov. Roy Cooper on September 4, 2020.

It includes $1 billion for many critical needs, such as:

  • $440 million for stimulus payment to parents, totaling $335 per family with at least one child. Checks should be issued by Dec. 15. This is to off-set the expenses most families are experiencing during online schooling.
  • Increased weekly unemployment benefits by $50 (bringing the max to $400/week). Also includes the President’s executive order offer of an additional $300/week.

$12 million for domestic violence and sexual assault prevention, including $100,000 to Safe Alliance and a host of other needs. Read more.
